Little did I know what was in store in January, 1973, when I walked into OEC’s SW Water Street office. Judie (Neilson) Hansen was efficiently managing in a small area full of mis-matched furniture. I explained that Oregon Environmental Council sounded like a good place to volunteer because “environmental” was part of its name. I went away from that first encounter with a copy of Senate Bill 100, which I read that night in a toy-cluttered NE Portland living room after my preschoolers were tucked in.

Kristina Engstrom

Development Director

Kristina Engstrom joined OEC as development director in July 2008. She brings over ten years of fundraising experience for higher education, the arts and healthcare in the areas of prospect research, grant writing and corporate sponsorship, to OEC. She is responsible for foundation and corporate fundraising at OEC, and works to develop long-term relationships with organizations that are passionate about the environment. She is happy to be home in Oregon after having spent fifteen years on the East Coast and in Colorado. Kristina received her undergraduate degree from Lewis & Clark College and her graduate degree in Women’s History from Sarah Lawrence College. Her interests include cooking, gardening, hiking and romping around Oregon’s parks with her two sons, husband, and Labrador Retriever.
