What You Can Do

All of us can take actions in our own lives that will help slow global warming.

Want to make a difference? Join Climate Coolers – a team of individuals who understand that it is going to take personal action to slow global warming – and multiply your carbon reduction actions by thousands. You will have front row seats to the many actions being taken to combat global warming in Oregon. Climate Coolers receive a series of biweekly, practical tips on ways to curb global warming pollution. These tips not only help solve global warming, but also improve the health of Oregon’s children, lower our reliance on foreign oil, reduce air pollution, create jobs, save money and position Oregon as a leader among states.

For immediate ideas on how to reduce your carbon footprint, click on the links below:

You may be interested in calculating your carbon footprint first. And for the carbon footprint even the most conscientious of us leave behind, consider carbon offsets.
We all recognize that individual action alone won’t cut it. The problem of global warming must be confronted at every level of society, from business practices to government policy. You can lend your voice to the growing chorus of those who are demanding corporate and government action by signing up for Oregon Environmental Council Action Alerts. Click here to learn more about local, state and regional policy initiatives.

Help us get the word out about practical solutions to global warming – email your friends and ask them to join Climate Coolers; attend or better yet host a presentation of the An Inconvenient Truth slide show; download and distribute our Four Pathways for Personal Action handout [PDF: 170 KB]; and make a contribution to the Oregon Environmental Council so we can continue our work to slow global warming.
