OEC At the Art Hop
OEC will help Alberta Art Hop visitors build a rain barrel at the Portland event's DIY stage this Saturday.
If you're in Portland this weekend, don't miss the "DIY" stage at the Alberta art hop! OEC's staff will be on hand at 3:00 PM to assist in the "build your own rain barrel" demo. Then, after the goat milking by the Going Goaty urban farm co-op, the sponsors will draw raffle winners for the rain barrel, compost bin, plants and more.
OEC is happy to participate in the "Art builds community" theme of the annual event, and building a rain barrel is a great way to celebrate community.
Collecting rain water before it hits the streets will ease pressure on your community's storm water system. And instead of picking up street pollution and carrying it into the river, your collected rain water will nourish your garden before it filters into ground water supplies.
