It's Your Oregon: Tony Sarmiento

Residing in a state with a long history of environmental leadership, Tony wants to see Oregon maintain its legacy of clean, renewable energy and promote the implementation of environmentally responsible, renewable resources such as wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and wave energy.

Tony Sarmiento has been an invaluable supporter of OEC’s and dedicated volunteer since 2009. An east coast native who relocated to the Pacific Northwest over a decade ago, Tony is continually amazed by Portland’s vibrant outdoor culture and sustainably-minded people who inspire him on a daily basis.

“I try to live my everyday life as green and clean as possible, and I encourage those around me to do the same,” says Tony.

Residing in a state with a long history of environmental leadership, Tony wants to see Oregon maintain its legacy of clean, renewable energy and promote the implementation of environmentally responsible, renewable resources such as wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and wave energy.

Tony supports OEC because of the organization’s dedication to promoting sustainable living through a few different approaches:

  1. Providing information to Oregonians on simple things they can do to help the environment—food choices, consumption habits, and transportation behavior to name a few
  2. Involvement with legislation that forwards environmentally-friendly public policies
  3. The organization’s collaborative work with experts in different fields to find healthier alternatives for people and the environment

“Oregon is my home, and sharing in the outdoors and doing what I can to promote sustainable living is my way of giving back,” Tony says. “Being an OEC volunteer allows me to touch as many people as possible and have a positive influence on this place I love deeply.”
