The Air Toxics Science Advisory Committee will meet Tuesday, April 19 to begin a discussion of short-term air toxics benchmarks for Oregon.
DEQ will present the committee with scientific and technical
information on how we might address long-term and short-term exposures
to air toxics. Oregon has long-term exposure health benchmarks for air
toxics, which is the standard approach in the US.
Community members have requested that DEQ review current science
to determine if developing short-term benchmarks would be more
protective of Oregonians’ health. The committee will research and
discuss the current science related to long and short-term exposures and
report its findings to DEQ. The committee’s charge does not include
policy recommendations.
This meeting is open to the public. At the conclusion of the
committee’s discussion there will time for public comments and
questions.
When: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 19th
Where: DEQ Headquarters, Room EQC-A, 10th floor, 811 SW 6th Ave., Portland
