Donate your car to OEC

OEC's trusty Prius is on its last legs (er, wheels). If your gently-used car is a good candidate for our replacement, read on about how your donation can turn into a tax break.

OEC's trusty Prius is on its last legs (er, wheels). Is your gently-used car a good candidate for our replacement? Here are some details to weigh when considering donating your car to OEC.

Tax break

Because OEC intends to use your vehicle (rather than to sell it), you may claim the "fair market value" of your car as an income tax deduction.

Paperwork

OEC will provide you with acknowledgement of your gift, suitable for filing your deduction. However, you may need to fill out additional forms, depending on the value of your vehicle. Read more in this IRS document.

The right car

Unlike some charity organizations that accept vehicles as donation in order to sell them, OEC seeks a one-time donation of a car that staff can use for travel across the state. So, we're hoping for a fuel efficient, low-emissions vehicle in working order. If you've been dreaming of a new electric vehicle, now's the time to donate your working hybrid to OEC!

Our gratitude

For nearly a decade, OEC has put more membership dollars to work directly on environmental solutions, because a shared Prius has allowed us to travel efficiently across the state.  Your donation will allow us to continue that cost-saving practice.

Contact

If you think your vehicle might be a good candidate for OEC, please contact OEC at info [at] oeconline.org or call 503-222-1963 x100 and speak with our office manager, Karen.
