A supportive community is extremely important for all parents and parents-to-be.
The help of those around us and advice from those who have been through it before can be invaluable.
One key strategy is to talk to other parents about their experiences. Below are links to some wonderful online resources and communities. Urban Mamas. urbanMamas is a fun venture started by some Portland urbanMamas who saw that some important information online was lacking. urbanMamas hopes to create a dynamic online community for mamas who want to share tips, advice, reviews, ideas, fun, challenges, and more. urbanMamas is a project from the heart, and it belongs to all of us who want to share, participate, and connect. They have a wonderful e-newsletter that is chalk full of fantastic information on everything from nursing bras to activities you can do with your child. Real Mama. Real Mama, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that was founded by a group of four women, three of which serve as the Board of Directors. As mothers and professionals, they decided to share our growing knowledge of environmental issues and the relationship between such issues and children's health and wellness. This website has fantastic resources and the Real Mama newsletter is priceless!
