There are many places where innovative research and products can be applied by industries in Oregon and beyond.

The formulated products industry (soap, detergents and cleaning preparations and/or perfumes, cosmetics, and other toilet preparations) has a wide variety of needs for greener chemicals including: Antimicrobials, Solvents, small amines, chelants and sequestering agents, boron alternatives, fragrance raw materials, corrosion inhibitors, alkanolamides alternatives, surfactants, UV screens. Apparel and Footwear manufacturers need safer alternatives for surfactants, polymers, dyes, adhesives and solvents.

Safer alternatives to chlorinated materials (piping, water proofing, siding, membranes, flooring, adhesives), brominated flame retardent treated foam and fabrics, VOC-free interior finish materials, polyurethane, volatile and semivolatile organic compound-free binders and resins are needed for green building materials.
