Baby Shower Kit - Food & Menu

Criteria for choosing a fresh and healthy menu for your baby shower

Whether you cater, cook or potluck for your baby shower, consider offering “sole food” – that is, seasonal, organic, local and ethical.

Seasonal food:  Oregon is lucky to have a bounty of fresh produce, wine, beer and other goods home grown in our state. Find out where to buy Oregon goods and what’s in season at  oregonfresh.net

Organic/sustainable food:

Look for Organic, Food Alliance, and Salmon Safe certifications. Buying certified food rewards food producers who take better care of your health and the environment.

Local:

Buying food that is produced nearby means that it is fresher and often easier on the environment than food that is shipped in from elsewhere.  Challenge yourself: What can you buy that is grown closest to where you live?

Ethical:

There are some foods such as coffee and chocolate that can’t be bought locally. You can choose fair trade certified foods to be sure that economic, social and environmental criteria were met.
