Friday, October 23rd, 2009
10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Portland, Oregon
We are recruiting educators and trainers for early childhood learning professions who would like to be approved for delivery of the standardized training curriculum, Eco-Healthy Child Care: Small steps to improve children's health.
This Oregon Registry standardized training session is developed for practitioners who work in early childhood learning environments with children ranging in age from infant to 5 years.
The Eco-Healthy Child Care training curriculum consists of one two-hour Set One session. The emphasis is on learning simple ways to ensure a healthy learning environment by identifying and eliminating sources of toxic exposure common to child care settings.
Participants in the training of trainers will learn the importance of a healthy environment to a child’s future health, and how environmental exposure from cleaning materials, dishware, furnishings and maintenance practices can lead to asthma, learning disabilities and other chronic disease. They will also learn how to use a checklist of recommendations to empower professionals in taking low-cost, voluntary steps to ensure a healthy environment.
The training curriculum will be available in English, with printed materials for delivery to practitioners available in Spanish, Russian and Mandarin.
Please note that attendance will be limited to 20 participants.
