Tell Your Legislator That Toxic Chemicals Do Not Belong in Our Products

I'm not sure if you read the recent Oregonian article about chemicals and toxins in products we use every day. Or the articles in the Salem Statesman-Journal about toxic chemicals in our school supplies, or lead in our products. Everywhere you turn it seems like people are noticing that we need to begin closing the loopholes in our product safety system.

During this upcoming legislative session in Salem, the Oregon Environmental Council will be working vigorously to do just that. But right now, we need your help in letting your state representatives know that passing these laws need to be a priority for them. We've created a draft letter, that we encourage you to edit and customize. Form letters can be ignored and can lack the personl touch.

You send this to your legislator's desk in Salem right now. It will be directed straight to your State Senator and State House Representative. If you're not sure who your representative is, please feel free to find your state legislator and put their proper salutation in the letter - and to contact them directly as well! It is very important that your letter is routed to your proper legislator, so the more zip code (+4 digits) information you can provide the better. Thanks for taking the time to make your voice heard today!

Sincerely, Renee Hackenmiller - Paradis, MPH., PhD., Program Director, Environmental Health.
