Where to Buy Healthy Food
Healthy foods like fruits and vegetables are important for babies and parents alike. You can find fresh and/or organic produce and much more at local farmers' markets and through community supported agriculture (CSA) programs.
Farmers' markets are also a great way to support and help preserve local agriculture. Over 64 communities in Oregon have farmers markets that sell fresh, high quality produce directly to consumers. Check out the Oregon Farmers' Market Organization for the most current information about or to locate a market near you.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has "harvest shareholders" provide money and other resources to support an individual farm's entire season's harvest. The shareholder helps share the farmers' risks and rewards of growing the food. The farm shares the harvest with shareholders through the season.
Check out OEC's Guide to Community Supported Agriculture as well as other Portland and Oregon CSA programs and see if this would be a good option for you.
Another great way to get fresh and organic produce is to go pick it yourself. There are lots of organic U-picks in Oregon.
