Ask for Re-Refined or GF-4 Oil
Did you know you can buy oil that's energy-efficient AND recycled?
Use GF-4 oil
There are many grades of oil to choose from. The only way to know which is right for your car is to check your Owner’s Manual and compare the rating on the American Petroleum Institute (API) label.
When possible, use GF-4 rated oil. It’s more slippery than regular oil and actually makes your engine work easier so you get 2-3 mpg better gas mileage. All companies make GF-4-rated oil in various grades. The API logo will say “energy efficient” if it’s GF-4-rated.
Use re-refined oil
Oil doesn’t wear out, it just gets dirty.
It’s not just recycled oil that’s been filtered, it’s actually put through the same refining process and has the same additives as virgin oil. In Europe, even the Mercedes Benz factory puts re-refined oil in its new cars, so why not you? It’s also available in a GF-4 rating.
Re-refining makes the oil good as new and reduces your consumption of a scarce resource.
