Clean Rivers for Oregon

Restoring a legacy of clean rivers in Oregon.

Oregonians love our rivers.

We expect them to be clean so that we can fish, raft, boat and swim in them, knowing we are not putting ourselves or our loved ones at risk. Many of us rely on rivers for our drinking water and livelihoods.

Unfortunately, every major river in Oregon -- from the Willamette to the Snake, and from the Rogue to the Deschutes -- has pollution problems.

The Oregon Environmental Council (OEC) is working to address major pollution problems that affect our rivers, such as mercury contamination in fish that can threaten human health. We're also bringing together a team of stakeholders and experts to develop a plan to reduce urban stormwater runoff.

Our goal is that all major Oregon rivers will meet federal water quality standards, meaning that we can fish, swim and boat in them safely.
